I don't really look at this anymore but the comments go to my email address. no comments for ages then two about literature or a book? Am I being spammed?
I've broken up with who? Have you been checking out this blog? If so you must be the only one! Perhaps you were looking for a blog called Note to Self? I'm not sure what you mean, can you let me know. Anyway, thakns for dropping by. Best, BIll.
There are millions of blogs out there, why should people care about this one above others? OK, it's got that cool David Byrne 'Once in a Lifetime' loop going, but is that really enough?
You tell me Les. As you can see hardly anybody has checked it out. Ever. Except for lately which is wierd. I stopped posting here ages ago because it seemed pointless - nobody ever reads blogs. There must be millions of blogs out there full of the same sort of stuff as this one that no one ever reads. All that heartache stored in cyberspace. All that bullshit. Pent up with no where to go.
It's a cry for help is what it is. The fact that you stopped was a good sign of getting over vain attempts to be noticed by anonymous folk who are more likely to stumble on a blog because they found an image on your site via Goofle images rather than anything inherently interesting in the content. No offense.
No offense taken. Looking back on all this - it's embarrassing and sounds so self indulgent. Is that how you found the site through Google images? Thats's where I nabbed the Byrne image.
Yeah, I think so, there's some pretty sweet animated gifs from the video out there. Kinda crazy hypnotic weird white dude shtick that he sort of had patented for a while there.
Byrne really did have a unique thing going on didn't he? Have you seen the live stuff where he's wearing that huge suit? Very surreal - his tiny head above the mass of that large gray suit.
You can see that suit in the Girlfriend is Better video clip, which I think is part of the Stop Making Sense concert movie. Never liked that song. Actually, hated that suit as well. I think it's where Byrne crossed some sort of line about what was fun and weird and what wasn't, and where Talking Heads became all about him.
Harsh words Les. Maybe you're right. Not a huge Talking Heads fan myself but I do love some of their singles and I think that concert film is a ripper. I love the theatrics. maybe it did become all about him, but good art needs a strong singular vision. I think that's why bands break up - too much compromise is needed to stay together. Something has to give eventually.
Not sure starman? I think bowie wore a suit in the 80s. Wasn't he the thin white dulke? Don't remember him ina big suit though. Do u have any pics of him in a big suit?
Thnx psycho killer. Will check this out-won't lay pn my phone. Can't believe the traffic i've had about this lately. Maybe there's a david byrne zietgest i've tapped into.
Bill, stumbled across this blog...well, that's not true - a friend of a friend of a friend told me your story, so I went looking for your blog. It's amazing how people can be connected. Ok - you clearly needed a kick up the butt...'but' some of your friends and exes seemed so full of their own self-importance, almost with a manual on how blokes / people should behave. Glad you got there in the end in your own way, own time - we can't tell anyone what to do, we can only be there to guide and support and hope that people open up the side windows to start seeing things differently or with more clarity (don't always need to come in via the front or back doors! side windows are good!). Amberley sounds like a keeper, hope it works out for you both. And, if you need to buy a new washer consider a Miele, they are literally built like a tank! (unsure now, but used to be built with old German tank metal!! they can't be moved easily and they last forever).
I wish I knew how we were connected. There are so many people reading this blog these days. I just don't get it. Wondering who is suggesting I need a kick up the butt. Not that I don't - I find it hard to stay motivated - look at the way this blog died in the arse. Who have you been talking to?
Thanks for the advice about the washing machine too. If teh one I have ever dies I'll follow your advice.
It is good to be introduced to your book. Ask me why!
